ProScreen on cooling systems of Maincubes Amsterdam

Maincubes is a data center operator and expert in the field of colocation and digitalization. The organization has a network of secure data centers in Europe with high availability. Maincubes also has a modernized data center in Amsterdam, Schiphol-Rijk. On the roof of this location are six large cooling units whose condensers were previously not protected against dirt intake. Contaminated condensers have a lot of negative consequences for the unit and ultimately for the overall cooling process. A contaminated condenser will also contribute to the fact that a (cooling) system will consume a lot of extra energy. The fact is that the maintenance costs for these units often have a (too) large impact on the overall cost picture.

Collaboration with SPIE Netherlands

In collaboration with our partner SPIE, Interfilter (and Deltrian Netherlands) has been commissioned to address this common problem. First, Interfilter conducted the measurement, after which SPIE provided all other data needed to calculate the Return on Investment. Peter de Jong, SPIE Netherlands, about the pre-phase: "Thanks to the careful and extensive approach in the pre-phase, it quickly became clear to both us and Maincubes what the advantages are of applying the ProScreens".

Simple maintenance and more efficient systems thanks to ProScreen

Thanks to ProScreen, the condensers remain clean and the coarse dirt will now be captured preventively. "Throughout the year, ProScreen is very easy and especially quick to rinse and/or brush clean. This results in fewer thorough cleanings being required. This results in a more efficient, economical and cleaner cooling system that can run with the highest possible efficiency throughout the year," says Mats Verbrugge, Area Sales Manager at Interfilter Group and Deltrian Netherlands. An additional and noteworthy advantage is that 6.5% of energy consumption is saved annually by using the ProScreens. In the case of Maincubes, this will result in a saving of at least €4,000.00 per year.

Expected results after installing screens

"Based on Interfilter's ROI calculation, we expect Maincubes to have recouped the investment in ProScreens within 2.5 years. This is due, among other things, to reduced energy costs, reduced maintenance costs, and extended long-term lifespan of the installations," says Peter de Jong of SPIE Netherlands.
