Optimizing air quality at the Concertgebouw Orchestra

Vink Installatie Groep is a total installer from Roelofarendsveen: from climate and sanitary installations to electrical engineering and service & maintenance. Vink is responsible for maintenance at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is a symphony orchestra founded in 1888. The building has 1 concert hall and 10 studios where the orchestra staff is located and where musicians can rehearse. Therefore, air quality in the spaces is very important. "We want to be able to welcome all guests in clean air and are therefore curious to see what can be optimized," according to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.

Indoor air quality Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra

The answer to this question is investigated by Peter van der Zwet, Service Manager of Vink Installatie Groep, together with regular partner Interfilter. Research has been conducted into the indoor air quality within the building and a possible optimization of indoor air quality. This research has shown that the concentrations of fine dust on PM0.3, PM1.0, PM2.5 and PM10 in the indoor air are at a very good level.

Clean air in the concert halls

Before Interfilter conducted the air quality study, on the advice of Interfilter and in consultation with Vink Installatie Groep, NW95 filters were installed in the air handling systems of the Concertgebouw Orchestra. Thanks to the ISO ePM1-70% filter class, the NW95 more than meets the guidelines of Eurovent 4/23 and the WHO (World Health Organization). In addition, the filter provides 30% less energy consumption compared to the previous filters, resulting in savings on energy costs and CO₂ emissions. Finally, the NW95 filters last longer due to the increased dust capacity compared to previously used filters.

"After the study, we are proud to share that together with Vink Installatie Groep, we have optimized the indoor air quality at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and created clean air for all employees and guests", says Jaco Meijer, Area Sales Manager at Interfilter Group.
